Begusarai: Former JNUSU president Kanhaiya Kumar, contesting as the Communist Party of India candidate on Tuesday filed his nomination for the Begusarai Lok Sabha seat in Bihar.
Ignoring the heavy rain, thousands of people, mostly youths, joined Kanhaiya during a three-kilometre march on foot, cycle and two-wheelers waving red flags in the town.
The youth chanted various slogans in favour of Kanhaiya — from ‘Lal Salam Kanhaiya Kumar’ to ‘Kanhaiya Kumar Zindabad’.
Gujarat MLA and Dalit leader Jignesh Mevani actress Swara Bhaskar, student activists Shehla Rashid flew to Begusarai to lend support to Kumar, the newest entrant into politics.

Apart from these, Gurmehar Kaur and missing JNU student Najeeb’s mother Fatima Nafees and activists Teesta Setalvad also accompanied him. All of them participated in the road show.
Kanhaiya took to Twitter account and thanks all the supporters.

The fight in Begusarai is triangular. A joint Left candidate, Kanhaiya Kumar will take on Union Minister and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Giriraj Singh in Begusarai. The RJD is set to field Tanweer Hasan, who lost to Bhola Singh of BJP in 2014.
Kanhaiya Kumar, 32, was arrested in February 2016 and accused of sedition for allegedly doing nothing to prevent the raising of anti-India slogans on the JNU campus.
