Ballia, UP: A 24-year-old wife was allegedly thrown out of the house by her husband, as she drew portraits of prime minister Narendra Modi and UP’s chief minister Yogi Adityanath.
According to a report by Hindustan Times, the incident had taken place late in September at a village in Sikandarpur area of Ballia district, police said.
Naghma Parveen, a native of Maturi village married Parvez Khan of Basakirpur village in Sikandarpur area in November 2016, police said. Naghma’s father Shamsher Khan alleged that although his son-in-law and his family members used to harass her for dowry, she tried to get along with her in laws.
Naghma had drawn paintings of PM Modi and chief minister Yogi Adityanath recently and showed them to her husband, who allegedly became angry on this and beat her.
The woman informed her father who then went to Basakirpur and spoke to his son-in-law and his parents. The woman and her father then headed to the police station and narrated their distress to the police.
Shamsher Khan told the police that Naghma’s in-laws told him that his daughter was drawing pictures of Modi and Yogi and had no right to live with them. They also alleged that she has gone mad.
“We are going to register a case in this connection following a complaint by the woman. A thorough probe will be carried out and action will be ensured accordingly,” Avinash Kumar Singh, station officer of Sikandarpur police station told HT.
He said the woman earlier lodged a complaint against her in-laws on July 20, alleging that they were harassing her for dowry. The matter is under mediation.
