Manohar Parrikar suffering from pancreatic cancer: Goa Health Min

Politics: Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar is suffering from pancreatic cancer, Goa’s Health Minister Vishwajit Rane has revealed.

“He (Manohar Parrikar) has got pancreatic cancer. There is no hiding of this fact. Let him be peaceful with his family. That much right he has. After serving the people of Goa, if he wants to spend some quality time with family, nobody has any business to ask,” Rane told reporters here on Saturday.

Citing Parrikar’s ill-health, the Congress party has been demanding that they should be allowed to form the government in the state.

On September 17, the Congress, along with 14 legislators in the 40-member state assembly, submitted a letter to Goa Governor Mridula Sinha, urging her to invite them to form the government.

Parrikar has been undergoing medical treatment for a pancreatic ailment for the last few months causing, as claimed by the Congress, a leadership crisis in the state.

On October 14, the Chief Minister was discharged from Delhi’s All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) and returned to his Goa residence, where hospital-like medical arrangements have been made.
