Mayawati demands an apology from PM, BJP for demonetisation

Lucknow: Saying that the demonetisation, which was done two years back, did not yield any good result as claimed by the Centre and the ruling party, Bahujan Samaj Party president Mayawati on Friday has demanded an unconditional apology from Bharatiya Janata Party and Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the miseries brought by demonetisation.

Mayawati is quoted as saying “Demonetisation only brought miseries to the people of the country and it turned out to be a fake claim of the Centre as they (BJP) did during the 2014 elections by promising Rs 15 lakh to all people from the black money to be brought from outside the country.”

The BSP chief claimed that demonetisation also proved the Modi government’s incompetence, inexperience and childish way of functioning that led to an economic emergency in the country.

In her statement released on Friday on the second anniversary of demonetisation, Mayawati demanded an apology of PM Modi and other leaders of the BJP for throwing the country in turmoil.
