Defying the current dietary advice and superstitions, a major new study has found consumption of dairy and meat products can actually help reduce the risk of heart disease, according to Lancet.
Researchers conducted the study on 218,000 people from close to 50 countries and found that saturated fats present in these food items can actually reduce the risk of heart diseases, DC reported.
They found that unprocessed animal products are eaten along with fruits, vegetables and fish, it can actually lower the risk of cardiovascular diseases and premature deaths.
Professor Salim Yusuf, from McMaster University in Hamilton, Canada, speaking of his study told the Daily Mai thatl: “Thinking on what constitutes a high quality diet for a global population needs to be reconsidered. “For example, our results show that dairy products and meat are beneficial for heart health and longevity. This differs from current dietary advice.”
