Mob reached Mosque on Bakrid after a message from VHP volunteer

It just took a message from a volunteer of Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) to make hundreds of people Gather near Noorani Masjid at outer Delhi’s Nangloi on the day of Bakrid. A message was that a cow had been slaughtered on the premises.

Around 600 people gathered near an MCD dustbin where the leftover was being dumped, including members of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad. The gathered mob shouted slogans and pelted stones towards the 30-year-old mosque.

Police rushed to the spot to prevent any tension and seized the leftover, Police seized over 2 kg of carcasses and sent them for forensic examination. Amid the tension, the hundred-odd families in Nihal Vihar spent Bakrid locked up inside their homes, with the 10-odd shops shut.

The police force was deployed outside a mosque in the area to ensure that no untoward incident happens in the area, said another officer.

A counter-complaint was sent by the mosque’s committee members, requesting action against the crowd and better security.
