Monsoon finally arrives in the country

(Gujarat/Maharashtra/Uttarakhand): Monsoon has finally arrived in the country as heavy rains lashed out at various parts of the country on Tuesday.

Parts of Gujarat, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, and Uttarakhand received rainfall through out the day.
In Gujarat, train services were affected at Kanalus Junction in the Rajkot Division of Western railway after railway tracks in the route were submerged under water due to heavy rain in the region.

In Maharashtra’s Pune, Khadakwasla dam overflown following heavy rains in the region, it has released around 28000 cusecs of water in two days.

India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued heavy rain alert for Himachal Pradesh.
Earlier in the day, the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) team in Uttarakhand rescued 11 pilgrims and 40-50 locals from Ram Mandir in Uttarkashi’s Barkot. Many people were stranded after rocks fell on the temple after heavy rains.

Rains also drenched several parts of the Coorg district in Karnataka.

The Madhya Pradesh capital too received heavy rainfall.

IMD also issued a heavy rainfall alert for Bhopal, Hoshangabad, Indore, Ujjain, Sagar and adjoining areas.
The Sehore district of the state was also severely water-logged due to heavy rainfall.

In Uttarakhand’s Chamoli students used rope ladder and climb a hillock to get to school after a bridge over Chuflagad River was washed away last night following heavy rainfall in Ghat area. (ANI)
