New Delhi: The way Waqf properties of Mehrauli are plundered, will soon leave the entire land occupied by government agencies and building mafia. Sadly the Muslim leadership is silent over the matter. The objection raised by some locals is falling to the deaf ears. It is being conspired for long to close the way leading to Masjid Kalan Mahal, Masjid Sulaimani and Masjid Chand Sitara located at Mehrauli. Masjid Kalan has been turned into a wrestling ring by some miscreants. Sometimes the trees are cut while at other times fire is set off in the forest to wipe out its identity.
A couple of days ago the police foiled miscreants’ bid to close the way leading to Masjid. Despite the fact that the case, regarding the proposed archeological park on the land, is pending with the court, the government agencies are continuously intervening into the matter.
Imam of the Masjid says the court itself has given a written declaration that the land belongs to Waqf. Such type of incidents are occurring because the Waqf board has not formed.
At first, graves were razed at Masjid Kalan and then trees were cut. A couple of days ago the trees on the Waqf land were set on fire. It is said that, on questing by SHO, the DDA officer admitted that he is closing the way leading to Masjid Kalan.
It is also being conspired to close the way leading to Masjid Sulaimani and Masjid Chand Sitara located at Mehrauli as well. Sadly the so-called leaders of the community have turned blind eye to the matter.
