Municipal Administration minister K.T. Rama Rao, announced that taxes would not be revised for the next three years in new Municipalities in the State.
He was speaking after formally launching of lakes development programme at Neknampur. He said Rs.441 crore was allocated for beautification and development of several lakes and water bodies across the State. The Telangana Government was committed to improving infrastructure in the State. The GHMC prepares action plan for lake beautification in Hyderabad. Of these, 40 lakes were shortlisted in GHMC and HMDA limits.
The Government has allocated Rs.21.26 crore for beautification and development of Neknampur lake and also appealed to the local residents to actively participate in lake protection, maintenance and other works.
The Minister said that GHMC Additional Commissioner Bharthi Hollikeri has been appointed as Chief Executive Officer of Lakes and Beautification project. In addition to the Rs.441 crore for lakes development, Rs.100 crore was sanctioned for development of Gandipet as well HMDA has been entrusted with the job of developing Gandipet as a tourist spot.
With regard to treatment of sewage, the Minister said every day 1150 MLD sewage is generated in the city. Of this, 670 MLD is being treated and efforts are being made to set up more Sewerage Treatment Plants before releasing the same into water bodies, he also stated that the Govt., of Telangana is taking up the development of 46000 lakes under Mission mode and the Govt., is very particular that there should not be any type of constructions should not be taken up in these areas under any circumstances and directed the officials to take the responsibility for the overall development of the lakes.
The Minister directed the GHMC Commissioner Dr. B. Janardhan Reddy to ensure that apartments with more than 100 flats should set up STPs in the ventures. The STP cost should be borne by the builders.
DR.B. Rammohan, city mayor, M.Ps Konda Vishweshwar Reddy, Ch. Malla Reddy, Baba Fasiuddin, Deputy Mayor, Prakash Goud, MLA, Dr.B. Janardhan Reddy, GHMC Commissioner, Chiranjeevulu, Commissioner, HMDA and senior officials of various Govt., Heads of the departments have participated in various programmes held today in GHMC limits.
KTR along with Baba Fasiuddin, Deputy Mayor, concerned Corporator and various public representatives have participated in the various programmes held at Borabanda where the Minister has assured that Rs. 10 crores will be sanctioned for Sunnam Cheruvu development as per the request made by the Deputy Mayor the Minister has also assured that all development works requested by the Deputy Mayor and Corporator will be taken up on priority added the Minister.
