M Mahender Reddy on Sunday took charge as the Director-General of Police (In-charge) of Telangana State on Sunday. Reddy who took charge from Anurag Sharma, thanked the Chief Minister, K Chandrashekhar Rao for giving him the responsibility as head of the State police. Efforts will continue at making Telangana a crime free State and focus will be on implementation of friendly policing, he said. There were many challenges post bifurcation and the police tackled them effectively. “Also, issues like child sexual abuse, crime against women and others were given due importance and dealt with utmost attention,” Reddy said. Mahender Reddy is the second DGP of Telangana State. A graduate in civil engineering from National Institute of Technology, Warangal, he got selected for IPS in 1986. That the Director General of Police, Telangana State, has decided firmly to improve the standards of Policing in the Police Commissionerate Metropolitan areas and has been making all out efforts to improve the investigation.

As part of above decision, The Commissioner of Police, Rachakonda Mahesh Bhagwat, has conducted one day orientation programme today at Conference hall, Cyberabad, Gachaibowli on the following Acts: A.P. Protection of Depositors of Financial Establishment Act, 1999, Prizes Chits and Money Circulation Schemes (Banning) Act, 1978 with the partnership of Director of Prosecution along with latest judgments.

The guest lecture was given by Dr. K. Ajay, Addl.PP.Gr.I, XI MSJ-cum-SC/ST (POA) Act Court, Secunderabad, to refresh, enhance the skills of the investigation officers as well as the officers of the prosecution of Rachakonda, Cyberabad and RR Dist. This session has kept the entire investigation and prosecution wings abreast with the latest developments which would enhance the betterment of crime convictions ratio.
