OU Centenary Celebrations: Two day seminar, Mushaira at Women’s College

Hyderabad: According to a press note issued by Dr. Mohammed Nazeer Ahmed, Head, Dept. of Urdu, University College for Women, a two-day seminar will be held at Women’s College on 7th and 8th December to mark the centenary celebrations of Osmania University.

The seminar will cover topics such as the “Rulers of the Deccan”, “The Promotion of Urdu Language and Literature” and “Print Journalism after 1857”.

The inaugural function of the seminar will be held at 10:30 a.m. on 7th December at Women’s College in which, Mr. K. Sri Hari, Dy. CM and incharge of Education is likely to participate. Prof. Muzaffar Shahmiri, VC of Dr. Abdul Haq University, Kurnool will deliver a keynote address.

Mr. Saleem Farooqui, founder of Urdu Academy, Jeddah, will be the Chief Guest. After the seminar, awards would be given to prominent Urdu personalities.

At 10:30 a.m. on 8th December, Prof. Maula Bakash, an eminent critic and researcher will deliver a special lecture on “Meer Osman Ali Khan and the services rendered by OU”. A delegation led by Prof. Maula Bakash will present the resolution to Govt. of Telangana.

On Friday, Mushaira will be held at Women’s College under the chairmanship of Prof. Muzaffar Ali Shahmiri. Prof. S.A. Shukoor, Director of Urdu Academy and Mr. Rafatullah (New York) will be the Chief Guests. All are welcome.
