Over 1 lakh duplicate voters found in Hyderabad

The GHMC (Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation) has identified over 1,00,000 duplicate voters and registered 1,07,343 new enrolments in 15 Assembly constituencies in Hyderabad. A statement from the civic body showed demographically similar entries in the electoral list.

As per the records, over 7500 duplicate voters in Malakpet constituency, almost 11,000 in Chandrayangutta, over 11,000 in Yakutpura, 11,000 in Bahadurpura, over 4,600 in Charminar, over 4,500 in Khairatabad, 8,600 in Jubilee Hills, 8,300 in Nampally, 10,127 in Karwan, 3,822 in Goshamahal, 4,568 Musheerabad, 3,882 in Amberpet, 3,370 in Sanathnagar, 4,325 in Secunderabad and over 4,200 in Secunderabad Cantonment Area.

As many as 72,707 photos have been matched out of the total 1,01,470 duplicate entries, and 72,358 entries assigned to field verification for attaining 100 per cent accuracy in the voter list. 6,624 voters have already been verified at the field level and the corporation would serve notices to voters prior to deletion of their names.

On the other hand, 1,07,343 new voters have been registered from September 11 to September 24. An election wing official said about 10,000 voters were expected to register their names in this week.
