Pakistani batsman Zubair Ahmed dies after being struck by bouncer, PCB expresses grief

Mardan: Young Pakistani batsman, Zubair Ahmed died on the spot after being struck by a bouncer during a game in Mardan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province of Pakistan on 14th August.

It may be mentioned that Ahmed played four matches for the List A and T20 team Quetta Bears.

Highlighting the importance of wearing a helmet during a cricket match, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) tweeted, “Tragic death of Zubair Ahmed is another reminder that safety gear i.e. helmet must be worn at all times. Our sympathies with Zubair’s family”.

Recently, Australia’s David Warner was also hit by a bouncer from Josh Hazlewood during a practice match.

Need for protection of head during cricket match was first highlighted three years ago when Australian batsman, Phillip Hughes had passed away due to a head injury.
