Plan to 2 cr saplings in Edu institutes: Srihari

Deputy Chief Minister K Srihari today directed officials to see that 2 crore of saplings are planted in educational institutions in the state during Swachch school and green school during every fourth Saturday as part of Haritha Haram program. He asked the officials to prepare plan of action to plant 2 crore of saplings and protect them using regular watering and using tree guards and take help of workers to safeguard.

In a review meeting with district education and forest officials here he said that the government will show place for plantation and take model of Kodakandla, Dandepally and Sanga Reddy schools. Education and forest departments should see that one crore saplings are planted in the schools and educational institutions and same number at block plantations and compound walls. Give uniforms to green brigades in schools and distribute 40 lakh fruit saplings to the students to plant them in the schools. Besides that appoint a worker to safeguard them through watering and tree guards by taking government support he said. About 40 lakh students are studying from school to engineering college level who should be involved in the green drive he said. We can plant 1.25 lakh saplings of fruits or flowers, etc by giving 5 saplings to each of 25 lakh students and expand greenery in a big way he said.
