PM Modi foreign trips cost tax payers Rs 2010 crore

According to a report of Economic Times, PM Narendra Modi has made 84 trips around the world since 2014 and it’s nothing short of dizzying.

According to the report, PM’s trips around the world cost about $280 million, while the government spent $640 million on promoting Modi’s flagship projects and achievements.

The information was provided in the Parliament by Gen. V. K. Singh, the Minister of State for External Affairs when a question raised by a lawmaker.

In 2016, his trip to Japan soon after the demonetization led to an accusation by the opposition that he was traveling the world while ordinary Indians were struggling.

While on a trip to Africa, PM Modi — a vegetarian and devout Hindu nationalist who reveres and worships bovines — gave Rwandan villagers 200 dairy cows on a beef-eating continent where there is a possibility of them getting slaughtered.

In China, he signed a memorandum of understanding to open a yoga college in Yunnan province.

In July, PTI had reported that as per government data, a total of Rs 1088.42 crore was spent on maintenance of the PM’s aircraft and Rs 387.26 crore on chartered flights during the period between June 15, 2014 and June 10, 2018. The total expenditure on hotline facilities was Rs 9.12 crore, not including foreign visits in 2017-18 and 2018-19.
