PM Modi tweets condolence over Sri Lanka’s flood, land slides

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said India stands by the people of the island nation and that ships are being rushed with relief material.

The life loss and people missing due to floods and mudslides have reached 91 and 110 respectively. Sri Lanka had requested South Asian neighbours as well as UN to come forward for help.

He condoled the death of Sri Lankan civilians and tweeted,

“We stand with our Sri Lankan brothers and sisters in their hour of need,” he said in a tweet yesterday.

As per a report by Indian Express PM Modi said Indian ships are being dispatched with relief material. “The first ship will reach Colombo Saturday morning. The second will reach on Sunday. Further assistance on its way,” he said in a series of tweets.
