Rahul Gandhi faces heat for likening RSS to Ikhwanul Muslimin

New Delhi: Congress President Rahul Gandhi faces heat for likening RSS to Ikhwanul Muslimeen (Muslim Brotherhood) a political and social organisation of Egypt. A section of Indian population strongly condemned his statement and termed the remark based on ignorance. Many say Rahul Gandhi is either uninformed or misinformed by the advisors. While some say RSS and Ikhwanul Muslimeen cannot be compared as RSS is a violence-loving group and against democracy while Ikhwanul Muslimeen is a peace-loving organisation and believes in democracy.

Chairman Delhi Minority Commission Dr Zafar ul Islam says Ikhwanul Muslimeen does not believe in violence, on the contrary RSS is a violence-loving organisation. He said RSS could have been likened with Al-Qaeda or ISIS.

General Secretary All India United Muslim Morcha and All India Muslim Majlis Mushavirat Maulana Abdul Hameed Nomani said Rahul Gandhi should have mentioned only RSS, by taking the name of Ikhwanul Muslimeen he has lost weight of his statement. He said Rahul must have been misguided by his advisors.

On the other side, he also drew a stinging condemnation from the BJP which accused him of acting as a “contract killer” of the idea called India and demanded an apology.

It must be noted that Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Friday had likened the RSS to the Muslim Brotherhood. He was addressing an event at London’s International Institute of Strategic Studies.
