Rahul Gandhi’s visit will rejuvenate village-level workers: Uttam

Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) President Capt. N. Uttam Kumar Reddy said that the participation of AICC Vice-President Rahul Gandhi in the ‘Telangana Praja Garjana’ meeting at Sangareddy on June 1 is expected to rejuvenate the entire Congress party in the State, especially the village-level workers.

Addressing a party meeting at Warangal DCC office on Sunday, Uttam Kumar Reddy said that the TPCC is ensuring the attendance of at least 10 leaders or workers from each of 8,560 Gram Panchayats in Telangana State in the public meeting to be addressed by Rahul Gandhi. He said the participation of all leaders and active workers would be a must while local crowd is separately being mobilised for the meeting. Similarly, all active workers from the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad and other towns will also participate in the meeting. “For us, ‘Telangana Praja Garjana’ is not just a regular public meeting. It is also an opportunity for us to strengthen the party at all levels,” he said.

Uttam Kumar Reddy said that Ambedkar Stadium in Sangareddy is the same location from where former Prime Minister Late Smt. Indira Gandhi Ji addressed a public meeting in December 1979 and she led the Congress party to power in the 1980 General Elections held for 7th Lok Sabha. Therefore, Rahul Gandhi’s address from the same location after 38 years would be of historic significance and of very high sentimental value. “We want each and every Congress worker and sympathiser to take the message that political tides could be turned in our favour if we work hard with total dedication and commitment,” he said.

The TPCC Chief said that Rahul Gandhi would be speaking to aggrieved groups like chilli farmers and unemployed youth among others at Sangareddy’s public meeting. He said Rahul Gandhi will speak about the dictatorial and anti-democratic attitude of Prime Minister Narendar Modi and Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao. He will also expose the total lowering of political morality in Telangana by KCR through brazen inducement of elected representatives of other parties in ruling party.  He will also be mentioning about how the democratic institutions, which were carefully nourished during the Congress Government, have been trampled upon by Modi and KCR. “Through this meeting, we will expose how Modi and KCR have been pushing agriculture into a crisis by ignoring procurement of agriculture crops despite thousands of farmers committing suicide,” he said.

Uttam Kumar Reddy said that Rahul Gandhi would release the ‘Chargesheet’ against the failures of TRS Government and the party wants all Congress workers to take those details to every village in the State. Further, Rahul Gandhi will also unveil the party’s promises for 2019 elections. “The future Congress Government will waive off crop loans up to Rs. 2 lakh in a single take. It will also ensure remunerative prices for all agricultural crops. We have also promised that all jobless youth in the State would be paid unemployment allowance. Further, we will clear all pending bills of Indiramma Houses and the existing beneficiaries would get an additional room. Financial incentives will be given to all Women Self Help Groups in the State,” he said adding that Rahul Gandhi would make more such announcements during the public meeting.

Earlier, Uttam Kumar Reddy, along with other Congress leaders paid rich tributes to former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi on his 26th death anniversary by garlanding his statue. Later, he held a meeting at Warangal DCC office on the preparations for ‘Telangana Praja Garjana’ being held at Sangareddy on June 1. He also attended the marriage of Warangal Mahila Congress president Poshala Padma Goud’s daughter. (INN)
