Recommendation of President’s rule in Arunachal is ‘political intolerance’: Congress

New Delhi : Congress leader Kapil Sibal on Sunday criticised the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for their move to recommend President’s rule in Arunachal Pradesh and said that this move would cost the ruling party heavily.

“This is again a very unfortunate political step that this government has taken. The Governor through his actions has already embarrassed himself and obviously this act of the government in recommending the President’s rule will also embarrass this government. This government knows that it has no majority in the Rajya Sabha and that this particular recommendation can never pass in the Rajya Sabha because it is politically motivated,” he said.

“But they still want to destabilize a border state, whose border is with China, and they want to destabilise such a state. This is the political wisdom that this government has,” he added.

Calling the recommendation an act of ‘political intolerance’, Sibal said that the decision was unfortunate.

“This is an act of political intolerance. Mr. Modi is the fountain-head of this political intolerance. This is a very unfortunate decision taken by the BJP and it is going to cost them heavily,” he said.
