Reliance Jio reached 160 million subscribers across India

Mumbai: Reliance Jio has taken the nation by storm since last year reaching every nook and corner across India reaching nearly 160 million people since its launch in 2016.

The official statement was made public by Akash Ambani Mukesh Ambani’s son during the RIL40 event that was held in Mumbai recently.

Reliance Jio has 145.9 million subscribers across India after Bharti Airtel, Vodafone and Idea Cellular who have 285 million mobile subscribers, 208 million subscribers and 191 million subscribers respectively. India stands second after China in mobile subscriber base, telecominfo reported.

Reliance Jio has disrupted the reigning telecom operators in India after its launch in September 2016 which has attracted nearly 100 million subscribers in just 172 days causing huge loss to Bharti Airtel, Vodafone, Idea Cellular and RCom.

It is now planning to disrupt country’s line based broadband services with its launch next year.

The company is preparing to launch high-speed fiber to the home (FTTH) broadband services along with IPTV service called Reliance Jio DTH early next year across 50 million households in its first phase of roll out.

The company is currently running beta trials for its FTTH service around ten cities which includes Delhi, Mumbai and other cities of Gujarat.

Reliance Jio aims to become the leading operator in India by next year providing all the three services – 4g mobile broadband, fixed-line broadband, and DTH.
