Kolkata: Residents of Kolarea village of South 24 Parganas district in West Bengal has open their hearts for the Rohingya refugees. They are taking care of 40 Rohingyas including 20 adults and 11 children. They are the members of 8 families. The villagers constructed two-room houses of teen sheds and common toilets and bathrooms.
It must be noted that central government declare Rohingya refugees as the threat to the country’s security but the villagers argue that they have given asylum to Rohingyas on humanitarian grounds.
Maimuna Khatoon who has arrived in Kolarea village along with her husband, 3 children, mother-in-law and brother-in-law, says we are safe here, the villagers not only gave asylum to us but also provided warm clothes, rice and other food items.
Rohingya men are provided with employment so that they can take care of their families on their own.
