Russia issues stamp commemorating birth centenary of Indira Gandhi

Russia has issued stamp on the 100th birth anniversary of Indira Gandhi, who was the Prime Minister of India during 1966-1977 and 1980-1984. She was born on November 19, 1917 in Allahabad and died in the year 1984. She was the daughter of Jawaharlal Nehru, the first prime minister of independent India.
Indira Gandhi always pursued a policy of friendship with the USSR, she often visited this country. Indira Gandhi had signed the Treaty of Peace, Friendship and Cooperation with the USSR after the war with Pakistan began in 1971.
The postage stamp issued by Russia features a portrait of Indira Gandhi depicted on the background of the national flag of India.
