Saudi Arabia, UAE impose VAT, NRIs face difficulties

Hyderabad: Due to the introduction of VAT in Saudi Arabia and the UAE, many Indian workers get affected.

Former Indian Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Mr. Talmeez Ahmed told this in Hyderabad that it will affect 70-80% Indian workers. He informed that in Saudi Arabia and UAE, there are 3 million and 2.8 million workers respectively. Many of them belong to middle-class families. With the enhancement of house rent, medical expenses, school fees, transport and other essential commodities, NRIs will face difficulties. It may also create an impact on remittances to be sent to India.

For the past two years, NRIs were already facing difficulties due to other restrictions but with the introduction of VAT, their worries may increase.
