Saudi clarifies building collapsed rumours during Haj pilgrimage

JEDDAH: Saudi Civil Defence denied rumours circulating about the collapse of a hotel in Makkah, Islam’s holiest city.

According to Khaleej Times, the ‘No-Rumours’ handle verified and informed the public that there is no truth to the message, ‘The fall of a hotel in #Makkah.’

The event was actually a mock-drill held to verify the degree of readiness of civil defence teams in Hajj in case of an emergency.

The video of the so-called collapse had gone viral on social media after it was tweeted out a few days ago.
