New Delhi: The apex Court has listed hearing of the plea filed by AIADMK leader Semmalai seeking transfer of case filed by DMK in the Madras High Court seeking removal of 11 MLAs belonging to the OPS faction to Supreme Court.
The bench headed by Justice J. Chelamewswar has directed the listing of the matter for next week after senior counsel Mukul Rohatgi had sought the transfer of the case to Supreme Court calling court’s attention to a similar matter of Andhra Pradesh pending before the Apex Court.
Earlier, DMK had moved the Madras High Court seeking the disqualification of the 11 MLAs belonging to then AIADMK faction after they voted against the AIADMK in Assembly.
The DMK has contended that the Speaker was not taking any action against the 11 MLAs under the anti-defection law.
