In spite of repeated directives failing to find any breakthrough with regard to construction of integrated MLA office-cum-residential quarters, Collectorate buildings in districts, Roads & Buildings Minister T Nageshwar Rao today expressed ire and anguish at the officials. He directed them to speed up the remaining works of MLA quarters in the city and make arrangements for its in inauguration in March.
Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao is understood to have got serious on the tardy pace of works of integrated collector office buildings due to non acquisition of lands and steps needed. Annoyed at the inordinate delay in execution of the construction works the minister literally pulled up the officials and sought clarification. The officials could not give a convincing reply as the district administration in new districts could not find suitable lands though the government has offered funds required.
Nageshwar Rao conducted a high level review meeting with the officials including principal secretary Samir Sharma, Engineer in Chief Ganapathy Reddy and others. The minister took stock of the works pertaining to collectorate buildings, guest houses, MLA quarters, land acquisition and identification of suitable lands and others. Of 104 Assembly segments only works only in 31 segments completed so far and the rest are at various stages while the works at 13 segments yet to begin. This has annoyed the minister who reprimanded the officials to speed up the works. A release said that works in 20 segments to be completed by Ugadi festival, 24 segments by June-July and 16 segments by Dasara festival.
Similarly the works of integrated Collectorate and other offices in districts are yet to take pace. The officials yet to find land for the similar works in Mancherial, Jayashankar Bhupalapally and Suryapet districts while the same in all other districts has begun. (NSS)
