Jammu: A 15-year-old boy had been arrested for the murder of an eight-year-old nomadic girl in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kathua district, an issue that has led to uproar in the state assembly.
The body of the nomadic ‘Bakerwal’ (goatherd) girl had been found in Hira Nagar area of Kathua district on Wednesday. The girl had been abducted last week.
State Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister, Abdul Rehman Veeri told the state assembly on Friday that a 15-year-old boy had been arrested for the murder.
The Minister told the assembly that the boy had confessed to the crime.
Earlier, pandemonium marred the proceedings of Jammu and Kashmir assembly on Friday as the opposition created an uproar over the murder of the girl.
As the speaker took his seat to start the day’s proceedings, MLAs of opposition National Conference (NC) and the Congress stood up to protest the murder.
Minister Veeri tried to calm the opposition by assuring that a special investigating team (SIT) had been formed to probe the murder, but the unrelenting opposition continued to raise uproar.
