Traitors of the nation

Nishant Agarwal, a 26-year-old engineer at the BrahMos Aerospace Private Limited in Maharashtra, was arrested on charges of violating the Official Secrets Act and espionage. He is said to have been in touch with suspected Pakistani intelligence operatives through fake social media accounts. Nishant Agrawal worked at the Nagpur facility of the missile programme. Agrawal was arrested on Monday by the ATS units of Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra police at BrahMos’ Nagpur. He allegedly revealed “technical information” to Pakistan.

This is a very sensitive issue. It needs to find out the extent of the breach and who else was involved in it. It also needs to find out why he was involved in anti-national activities. This is necessary to ascertain how people go against their motherland. This is not the first disclosure of anti-national activities. It is surprising how such traitors get a chance to do “highly sensitive work”. Equally surprising is the fact that Nishant Agarwal has won Young Scientist award by the Defence Research and Development Organisation. Every country has some friends and some foes. It is not easy for every country to deal with its foes. But it is necessary to deal with such people who play in the hands of foes. Nishant Agarwal’s arrest has taught a lesson that it needs to be more vigilant in terms of security. Such traitors need to be dealt with an iron hand.
