TS Assembly polls: Disappointing representation of Muslims in TRS list of candidates

Hyderabad: Ruling party, TRS always makes an attempt to prove itself as the sympathizer of the Muslims but when an opportunity comes to nominate candidates for TS Assembly elections, Muslims are neglected.

Mr. KCR released the list of 105 candidates in which only two Muslim candidates have been included. One of them is the sitting MLA of Bodhan, Mr. Amer Shakeel and the other is a Muslim leader nominated for Bahadurpura Constituency.

Muslims leaders of TRS are disappointed but they are not courageous enough to exert their pressure on KCR to get justice. In the districts of Telangana, earlier assurance was given that Muslim candidates would be considered for nominating them to Assembly constituencies where there is sizeable Muslim concentration.

A Muslim leader of TRS told that KCR failed to fulfill his promise of providing 12% reservation to Muslims. He could have at least given appropriate representations to the Muslim candidates for Assembly elections. Muslim cadre of TRS is also irritated that TRS is depending on its ally MIM. It is reported that the sitting MLAs of MIM have been taken as the MLAs of ruling party. There are many constituencies wherein Muslim candidates can win on TRS ticket. If Mr. KCR wanted, he could have suggested the names of at least 5-8 Muslim candidates. Under the pretext of bleak chances of Muslim candidates winning elections, they get deprived. In the past four years, KCR consulted MIM more than the Muslim cadre of TRS.

It is also reported that the names of Muslim candidates were announced after consulting MIM. There are little chances of Muslim candidates getting nominated for the remaining Assembly seats.
