Turkey promised to eliminate ISIS left in Syria: Trump

Washington: US President Donald Trump on Sunday (local time) announced that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has promised to eradicate “whatever is left of ISIS ” in Syria as the US troops are set to exit from the region.

“President @RT_Erdogan of Turkey has very strongly informed me that he will eradicate whatever is left of ISIS in Syria….and he is a man who can do it plus, Turkey is right “next door.” Our troops are coming home!” Trump tweeted.

Trump has been facing a major backlash from all quarters due to his decision to pull troops from Syria. Furthermore, speculations are rife that a US pullout from the region will increase Iran and Russia’s influence in Syria.

Russia has lauded Trump’s decision while Israel has claimed that the US would retain influence in Syria despite the absence of the troops.

Furthermore, Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has reaffirmed their plans of keeping Iran at bay in the region, stating that the nation is ready to expand its operations in Syria if the need arises.
