Hyderabad: United Arab Emirates has sent a donation of 3000 kgs of dates for historical Makkah Masjid for the month of Ramadan as a mark of respect to the holy month.

Every day around 3000 fasting Muslims come to break their fast at the historical Makkah Masjid. The number goes up to 5000 on Saturdays and Sundays.

Last year the UAE Consulate had sent 1000 kg of dates but this year on the request of MA Quadeer Siddiqui, superintendent of Makkah Masjid, the Consulate of UAE in India has donated 3,000 kg of dates to Makkah Masjid.

The Telangana government has provided 1,000 kg dates for fasting Muslims at Makkah Masjid.

Yesterday nearly 250 kgs of dates including those sent by UAE and also those presented by Telangana government were distributed among the devotees.
