Unani Hospital needs Government’s attention

Hyderabad: Although Telangana State Government makes lofty claims to promote Unani System of Medicine, the reality is quite reverse. Despite several reports and complaints about Nizamia Unani General Hospital, TS Govt. does not seem to change its attitude. Unani System of Medicine is on the verge of being extinct. There are no doctors, no medicines and no basic amenities in the hospital. If steps are not taken on war footings, it has to be closed down in the next 5 years. Allegations of corruptions in recruitment were exposed but the officials are engaged in shielding the corrupt officers. It is also misusing the building for which it was registered under Wakfs.

The land donated by Sir Nizamat Jung at Narayanguda was allotted by Chandrababu Naidu Govt. to BCs Welfare. After the intervention of the Court, Govt. had to take back its earlier decision. This building has now been allotted for a godown wherein TS AIDS Control Society has stored medicines. It is against the will of Wakf.

A delegation of Unani practitioners made a representation to Mr. Zahid Ali Khan, Editor of Siasat Urdu Daily who in turn advised them to form a Joint Action Committee.

The delegation consisted of Hakeem Syed Ghousuddin, Hakeem S.K. Abdul Waheed, Dr. Husain Ahmed, Dr. Zainul Abedeen, Dr. Rahman Khan, Dr. Shakaib, Mr. Khalid Mohiuddin Asad and others.
