US revokes visa of Palestinian Ambassador

Washington: After deciding to close down the Palestine Liberation Organization mission in Washington, the U.S. has revoked the visas of Palestinian Ambassador Husam Zomlot and his family. The visas were valid until 2020 Zomlot told Palestinian news outlet Ma’an Sunday.

Employees at the PLO office have been told to cease all operations, close down all bank accounts, and to vacate the premises by October 13. Zomlot further revealed that his family’s bank accounts have been closed down and they have been asked to immediately leave the U.S. He sees the development as an attempt to take revenge in order to placate Israel.

However, Haaretz with reference to the White House reported that it was reviewing the matter.

PLO Executive Committee member Dr Hanan Ashrawi has said that the U.S. has taken its attempts to pressure and blackmail the Palestinians to a new level.
