Victim of Makkah crane collapse awaits government aid

Hyderabad: 24 months after the Makkah crane collapse, the Telangana Hajj pilgrim who was injured in the accident is still waiting for the government aid. 40-year-old, Sheikh Mujeeb is running from pillar to post to get the aid. The poor fellow resident of Talab Katta had gone to Holy pilgrimage along with his mother and wife in the same year when the tragedy occurred. Mujeeb was severely injured in the crane collapse. A rod pierced his back. He was operated in Saudi Arabia itself. He was admitted in Kign Abdul Azeez Hospital (Makkah) for 6 days and in King Fahad Hospital (Madina) for one day. Later he returned to Hyderabad.

Mujeeb is the sole bread earner for his large family comprising of mother, wife and 5 children. He sells plastic items on the push cart. Mujeeb could not get the insurance amount as he is not apparently disabled; however his health is gradually deteriorating.

Mujeeb had also approached Secretary Minority Welfare Omer Jaleel but to no avail. It must be not out of place to mention here that 2 pilgrims of Andhra Pradesh had died in the crane collapse. Family of each of the victim got 3 lakh rupees from AP government immediately and their children are being provided free education.

However Mujeeb couldn’t get any aid from the Telangana government who claims to be minority-friendly. Mujeeb didn’t get any aid from Saudi Arabian government as well.
