Voter list by July 14 for civic body polls: Nagi Reddy

Hyderabad: Telangana State Election Commissioner, V. Nagi Reddy today stated that the process for municipal polls is on and they are ready to conduct the polls as planned.

He said that related voter list will be finalised by July 14 and draft of the voters list and reservations ward wise will be finalised in all civic bodies. The polls for civic bodies will be conducted by using ballot papers and about 50 lakhs of electors will participate in the process. Nagi Reddy said that a meeting with Collectors and SPs and district officials will be held on July 13 to prepare them for the polls.

Nagi Reddy earlier held a meeting with political parties and discussed on the upcoming polls for the civic bodies. The polls are likely to be held in August first week. The officials are in the process for finalizing the reservations and wards.

He said that he discussed with the political parties on the smooth conduct of the polls and sought their cooperation. ‘We have discussed on voter list, ward allocations and polling centers, reservations and arrangements for the polls’.

Those who attended the meeting include M Srinivas Reddy of TRS, G Niranjan of the Congress, Malla Reddy of the BJP and others. Nagi Reddy said that the schedule of the polls will be released on completing the process.

The civic polls will get same polling centers that were used during the previous polls and each polling center will have about 800 voters. He said that the political parties were instructed on the polls and expenditure. The amount fixed for the Municipal Councillorsis Rs 2 lakhs in Municipalities and Rs 3 lakhs in Corporations. Existing symbols will be used for all the political parties including national, State and regional and recognised ones. He also said that available symbols will be used for un-recognised parties and independents in the civic body polls.
