New Delhi: Delhi Police have booked a case against a woman for allegedly thrashing 18-month-old son in east Delhi’s Geeta Colony.
Her act was captured in a CCTV camera which was installed by the mother-in-law of the accused. After seeing her act, her mother-in-law went to the Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) and filed a complaint against her. DCW Chief, Swati Maliwal assured justice.
DCW, after receiving the complaint, directed a mobile helpline team to visit their home. The commission’s counsellor also met the sister-in-law of the accused, who handed over CCTV footage in which woman can be seen beating the child.
DCW chief Swati Maliwal also wrote to the SHO of Geeta Colony. “The child has been produced before the Child Welfare Committee and placed under protection. His custody has been handed over to his aunt,” Maliwal said. She also tweeted, “Shocked at brutality of mother. Can’t beat animal in manner she beat her own 1.5 year son. Her mental condition needs to be investigated”.
O.P. Bishnoi, Deputy Commissioner of Police (East) said that they have registered an FIR under Juvenile Justice Act against the child’s mother and a hunt is on to nab her.
