West Bengal: Doctor suspended for sharing dengue deaths on FB

Kolkata: A government hospital doctor has been allegedly suspended after he shared his patient’s death due to dengue outbreak on social media which was shared for about 500 times.

Arunachal Dutta from Barasat was allegedly suspended after he described his government hospitals condition on Facebook.

In his post, he stated that he was assigned 50 dengue patients while he was on duty from 9 am to 9 am. He alleged that the Government has given an unwritten order to hide deaths caused by Dengue and that he reportedly signed death certificates of dengue patients as death caused by ‘Fever’.

The Doctor reportedly received suspension letter after the post went viral on Facebook.
Director of Health Services (DHS) Biswa Ranjan Satpathy in an affidavit submitted in Calcutta’s High Court stated nearly 18,135 patients were being treated for the disease and 19 dengue patients have died in Government hospital.
