What’s the Balfour Declaration, and what did it do to Middle East?

“We are proud of the role that we played in the creation of the State of Israel and we will certainly mark the centenary with pride,” Theresa May had said about the 100 year anniversary of the Balfour Declaration.

What is the Balfour Declaration?

Given to the early Zionist movement by the British government for “the establishment in Palestine of a national home for the Jewish people.”

As outlined in the first Zionist Congress during its meeting in Basel, Switzerland in 1897: “Zionism seeks to establish a home for the Jewish people in Palestine secured under public law.”

However, this statement laid out the foundation for the state of Israel, that resulted in the great injustice towards the Palestinian people as thousands of them were forced out of their homes.
