Washington: Weeks before Hollywood rapper XXXTentacion was murdered he had signed $10 million dollar deal for his new album.
According to billboard June 18, he had signed the deal with the music company Empire which released his 2017 album ’17’.
The founder of the music company, Ghazi Shami said the rapper had worked a “significant amount” for the album. There was no set release date.
“There are recordings. X was always recording, creating great music, and when the estate is finally settled we’ll be able to give some more information on that,” said the rapper’s lawyer Bob Celestin.
XXXTentacion’s weekly streams have increased since his death and both his albums have jumped back into the top 5, while his single ‘Sad!’ has reached number 1 position post his death- it was released in the day of his funeral.
‘Sad!’ has garnered 60 million views so far.
On a related note the rapper’s former No. 1 song ‘?’ vaulted into top 10 with 94,000 album-equivalent units on June 21.
In 2017, song- ’17’ broke into 10 with 55,000 units.
The Hollywood rapper was shot dead in Florida’s Deerfield Beach in the United States (US) on June 19.
One of the murder suspects, 22-year-old Dedrick Devonshay Williams, was arrested on June 20 late evening (local time).
