Zonal Commissioners asked to impose fine on those creating unhealthy environment

Hyderabad: M. Dana Kishore, Commissioner, GHMC directed all the Zonal Commissioners/Engineering officials to strictly implement the rules and to impose fine on the people, who are doing the following things in creating unhealthy environment like open urination, dumping of C&D waste on the roads throwing plastic and other garbage waste in Nalas and on main roads and so on apart from this the discussions were also held with regard to control of footpath encroachments and to concentrate more on Swachh Survekshan, Property Tax collection and other civic related issues to be taken on top priority said the Commissioner.

The Commissioner held a review meeting with all the ZCs/Engineering and connected officials today at GHMC Head office and given directions to strictly implement the rules to curb the menace etc., to make the city clean and green and also to concentrate more on revenue collection. While interacting with the officials the Commissioner said that proper cleanliness has to be maintained in the public toilets, temporary toilets to be provided at the open urination points and also near lakes.

The GHMC has already initiating action against the people who are throwing garbage waste in nalas and on the main roads this has to be strengthened more for effective implementation of the rules duly imposing heavy penalties. The Enforcement & Vigilance wing has also being deployed for the said purpose to control such menace. With regard to Swachh Survekshan 2019 awareness campaign has to be taken up in coordination with all the NGOs and RWAs, Basthi Committees, SHGs to reach the target assigned to them.

The Commissioner further stated that the Swachh Autos which are collecting garbage from house to house that has to be connected with GPS for having clear transparency more than 100 kgs garbage waste who are producing like Hotels and other business establishments etc., they have to strictly implement the compost units for clearing the garbage waste. Every shop owner must provide two dust bins in the front of their shops for easy transportation of garbage waste to the transfer station.

The GHMC has taken up recarpeting of the roads almost the works are in completing stage and the providing of footpaths on main road works are also to be taken to complete in stipulated time. So far 17 kms of footpaths works have been completed and remaining 13 kms has to be taken up in war footing basis said the Commissioner. From the last few months, the GHMC has taken up 36,990 pot holes and continuously taking up the filling up pot holes whenever such places are being identified. The Commissioner directed the Chief Engineer for continuous monitoring of 390 open nalas duly taking up desiltation of works regularly.
