Noida: Factory offers space to women namazis for Friday prayer

NIDA: Another private firm has emerged as an example of religious tolerance after it provided space to over 60 women workers to offer the namza on Friday, January 11.

Since the last 10 years, the private garment factory in the A-block of Sector 64 of Noida has stood out for its culture of acceptance and provided space to offer namaz on the terrace of the office, according to a report in Hindustan Times (HT).

β€œOn Fridays, the terrace of the factory is divided into two parts, where on one, men assemble and on the other, us women employees, to offer namaz every Friday. Our company has also arranged for mats, mattresses and an Imam to assist the namazees,” a woman employee, who wished to remain anonymous, told Hindustan Times.

Farid, an employee with the company told the newspaper that he have been “an employee of the company since the last 13 years, taking care of the accessories. I have witnessed a culture where while Muslim employees are given space on Friday, Bhajans are organised during Navratras for the Hindu employees. There is a positive atmosphere due to these practises.”

The police in Noida issued a a controversial circular to all Multi-National Companies in and around Sector 58 directing them to prohibited any religious activity, including offering of Friday offering namaz by Muslim employees, in a adjacent park.
