Outrage against ‘Dictatorship’ in Delhi’s Seelampur

New Delhi: A day after the police crackdown that has shocked the nation with its brutality on Jamia students was exposed to the world, the same is repeated today.

According to reports, following yesterday’s police crackdown, clashes broke out today against the violence used by Police personnel on Jamia Millia University yesterday, HT reports.

The protestors threw stones at policemen who in turn responded with firing and used tear gas shells to disperse the crowd.

Two policemen were injured in the protests reported Reuters. The news agency quoted a witness as saying that a “peaceful protest against the Citizenship law got out of hand.”

Vehicles were vandalized in the violence with smoke engulfing the area.

As many as 2,000 people took to streets in Seelampur in protest against police crackdown.

According to a senior police officer, the protest began around 12 pm and the people from the area gathered at a prominent crossing.

The protesters have raised their slogans against the act, the National Register of Citizens (NRC) and the government.
