Hyderabad: Former leader of opposition in Telangana Legislative Council, Mohammad Ali Shabbir alleged that Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao and Majlis Ittehadul Muslimeen president Asaduddin Owaisi are trying to stall the protest against Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and National Register of Citizens (NRC).
He added that Asad Owaisi by taking all Muslim religious leaders to Pragati Bhawan has kept them in the detention centre of KCR.
All the religious leaders who met chief minister can’t attend protest against CAA and NRC without the permission of KCR, Shabbir asserted.
He claimed that KCR and Owaisi were time and again exposed as a secret ally of BJP. During the past five years of BJP government KCR supported BJP in issues like demonetisation, GST, triple talaq, scrapping of article 370, selection of the president and vice president etc., while MIM by playing the role of BJP B-team, divided the secular votes in various states thus helping BJP.
M A Shabbir said KCR and Owaisi are scared of the anti-CAA-NRC protests in which thousands of people are voluntarily taking part. He further said KCR, in order to prove his fake secularism, is trying to hijack the protest.
Noting that 11 chief ministers of the country have announced not to implement CAA and NRC, Shabbir asked, “Is KCR waiting for some sanctions by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and home minister Amit Shah?”
