Podu lands issue: TJS leaders urge Guv to intervene

Hyderabad: Telangana Jana Samithi president Prof. Kodandaram on Wednesday urged Governor ESL Narasimhan to intervene into the issue of podu lands that rocked the State recently. He submitted a representation on the issue to the Governor along with the Tribal Rights leader Ranga Reddy at Raj Bhavan here.

Addressing mediapersons later, Prof. Kodandaram said the Forest Rights Protection Act 2006 was not being implemented in the State in a prefect manner. He alleged that the State government had given Pattas to some farmers over the Podu lands while ignoring others. Ranga Reddy alleged that a war-like situation was prevailing in the villages all over the State on the issue. He also said the State government was responsible for the situation. He alleged clashes were taking place due to the non-implementation of the Forest Rights Protection Act. He claimed that the tribals were attacking the officials to protect themselves.
