Police foils attempt to smuggle gold seizes 31 kg gold

Hyderabad: Officials of Directorate of Revenue intelligence in an operations seized 31.5 kg. gold worth Rs. 13.3 crore.

The officials arrested 12 persons who were smuggling gold biscuits from Chennai without documents. They were travelling in different buses and trains. The gold was being transported from Chennai via Warangal to Hyderabad. These passengers had concealed gold biscuits in their pockets and garments. The passengers were travelling through Jaipur Superfast express and G.T. express. Three passengers were held at Vijayawada Railway station on 31st January whereas the other three passengers were held on 1st February who were travelling through G.T. express.

The officials of Revenue Intelligence, Vijawada unit arrested 3 persons at Kanakadurga Bus stop at Vijayawada on 1st February. They were going to Warangal.

It is estimated that the gold seized is worth 4.3 crore. A case was registered against the accused under the customs act of 1962.
