UP: Policemen felicitated for rescuing cow from a stream

Agra: Three policemen in UP were felicitated for jumping into nullah to rescue a cow on Sunday.

The Dial 100 team’s members identified as head constables Deshraj Singh, home guard Jitendar Kumar and home guard Shailendra Kumar of police response vehicle were given the felicitation certificates by Etah SP (crime) O P Singh, TOI reports.

Home guard Shailendra Kumar narrating the incident said, “We were patrolling on Sunday morning when we came across a villager who asked for our help, as his cow had fallen into a nullah and was unable to come out of it. Taking prompt action, our driver, home guard Jitendar Kumar, went to a nearby village and brought a rope, while head constable Deshraj Singh descended into the nullah to prevent the cow from drowning. Later with the help of local villagers, we extracted the cow from the nullah.”

He further added, “Since the water was very cold, the cow was shivering, gasping for breath and later went still. We rubbed her body with dry clothes after taking her out of the water. After we had worked for a few minutes, she felt warm and regained consciousness.”
