The Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) meeting was held by the Prime Minister to discuss the attack and the security situation in Kashmir with top ministers including Home Minister Rajnath Singh, Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley and Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj along with three military chiefs.

In the deadliest terror attack on security forces in Kashmir, around 40 CRPF personnel were killed on Thursday when their convoy was targeted in Pulwama district on the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway. Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) has claimed responsibility for the attack.

Home Minister Rajnath Singh will be visiting Srinagar after the CCS meeting to take stock of the situation in the wake of the attack. He will hold review meetings with senior security and police officials to make a ground-level assessment and review operational actions.
