New Delhi (India): Reactions began pouring in soon after the All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) decided to file a review petition in the Supreme Court against its Ayodhya verdict.
Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) international working president Alok Kumar on Sunday took a dig at AIMPLB and Asaduddin Owaisi for refusing to accept the judgment. Kumar said that the AIMPLB was not a party in the case and has no locus standi.
“They are indulging in shadow boxing. They themselves have accepted that the review petition has no chance of success. All they are doing is to placate their followers,” he said.
“And I have seen a gentleman’s statement from Hyderabad that he doesn’t need 5-acre land. Who is giving him the land?,” stated Kumar in an apparent jibe at Owaisi.
David Frawley, a scholar and Hindu activist said that the petition won’t make any impact as the AIMPLB doesn’t have people’s support to file review.
Frawley said that Muslims abroad have not heard of the Babri Masjid and they should not justify their claims on the temple as Hindus can’t claim that they own Mecca.
“They have the right to ask for a review. It won’t be making any impact,” stated Frawley.
The Hindu scholar said that Muslims should recognise India as a Hindu majority country.
Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Prof Ram Gopal Yadav on Sunday said the All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) should either accept the Supreme Court ruling or find a solution through mediation in the Ayodhya dispute.
All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) is not a party to the Ayodhya land dispute case and therefore does not have the right to file a review petition, Varun Sinha, lawyer of the All India Hindu Mahasabha, said on Sunday.
“AIMPLB is not a party to this litigation. It is the Sunni Waqf board that has to take the call to file a review petition. Only the parties in the matter can file a review petition in the Supreme Court,” Sinha told ANI.
He also questioned about any legal errors in the judgment adding that “there are none”.
“The Supreme Court has examined each and every aspect of the matter and come to a conclusion that Muslims have not been able to establish their exclusive possession to that disputed site and structure,” Sinha said.
Sinha said that he is unable to understand how AIMPLB is going to find an error in the judgment, which was passed by the Apex Court under Article 142 of the Constitution of India.
Expressing strong reservation on the AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi’s remark on the Supreme Court’s Ayodhya verdict and AIMPLB deciding to file a review petition against the apex court verdict, Union Minister Giriraj Singh said that “some people are trying to create rift in society and incite it” which is “not good for the country”.
Delhi BJP chief Manoj Tiwari said that the All India Muslim Personal Law Board’s (AIMPLB’s) statements after the Supreme Court verdict on Ayodhya Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid title dispute should not be given much importance as it was being done by the organisation to grab the limelight.
“They never fought for rebuilding the mosque, they fought for ulterior motives, for reaping political benefits. Now that the issue has been resolved they have nothing to be in the limelight, their only motive is to spread hate in the country and therefore there is no need to pay any attention to them,” Tiwari told ANI here.
The All Indian Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) is confused and they are trying to create tension in the country by filing the review petition on the Supreme Court verdict on the Ayodhya Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid title dispute, said the National spokesperson of Rashtriya Muslim Manch (RMM), Yaser Jilani.
“The Muslim Personal Law Board’s people are trying to create confusion and intoxication in the country. They are trying to incite the Muslim brethren, who have displayed their peacefulness and brotherhood after the verdict. The Muslims have rejected them, when they are themselves stating that their petition will be rejected then why file it at all?” Jilani told ANI here.
Iqbal Ansari, one of the petitioners in Ram Janmbhoomi-Babri Masjid land dispute, on Sunday distanced himself from the decision of All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) to seek review of the Supreme Court order in the matter.
“We respect the apex court’s ruling. We are Muslims of India and respect the law of the land. We would not go further on this issue,” Ansari told ANI here. “Since there are so many litigants in the case, I cannot take guarantee of everyone.”
