‘Shahrukh hogaya begaana sanam…’ sing Shaheen Bagh protestors

NEW DELHI: Protesting students at Shaheen Bagh re-energises the hit 1995 song Tujhe Dekha Toh Ye Jaana Sanam from Shah Rukh Khan‘s Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge.

Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan have opted to maintained an eerily silence on the Citizenship Amendment Act and the proposed National Register of Citizens (NRC) and the countrywide tension it has unleashed.

The 54-year-old actor have not even taken a stand on police brutality against Jamia Milia Islamia in Delhi and faces online fury for staying mum.

Referring to alleged brutal crackdown and his silence on CAA-NRC, the students in the video is seen singing, “Tujhe dekha to ye jaana sanam, Shahrukh hogaya begaana sanam,” while the demonstrators clapped and cheered for them.

For almost a month now, protesters at Shaheen Bagh area of south Delhi have been holding sit-in protests against the Citizenship Amendment Act, the National Population Register and the proposed National Register of Citizens (NRC).

Braving the freezing cold, hundreds of local women from all faiths sit with their kids and even small babies to press the demand for repealing the ‘discriminatory’ new citizenship law.
