Special prayer held at Chilkur Temple for Coronavirus victims

Hyderabad: The Chilkur Balaji Temple organized special prayers to alleviate the global panic-inducing Coronavirus outbreak that has afflicted and killed many.

In China, the coronavirus has infected thousands of people and killed at least 560 as of Thursday.

The Chief priests of the Chilkur Balaji temple recited the ‘Apamarjana Stotram’ and ‘Sudarshana Ashtakam’ prayers to contain Coronavirus outbreak. Around 2000 devotees participated in these special prayers at the temple.

The special ‘Aparjana stotram’ prayer evokes the various forms of Hindu deities — Vishnu and Sudarshana Chakra — to purge as well as protect their bodies and mind from various sickness.

Further, Chilkur Balaji Temple’s Chief Priest, CS Rangarajan explained rituals all beings suffer from troubles of poison and diseases safe us from the horrific virus.

When explaining the rituals, Chilkul Balaji Temple’s said that all beings suffer from troubles of poison and disease and that such customs are to save us from horrific ailments.  

The ritual was performed for 45 minutes and the water was sprinkled upon devotees after reciting the Balaji ritual.
